*Please note Travel Health PGDs are sold separately
Travel health is a fascinating field of practice and although services were severely impacted with the COVID-19 pandemic, travellers are seeking advice once more and practitioners are very busy again. This online platform has been created by Jane Chiodini to help the learner update, but at their own pace and at a time suitable to them. The learner can also revisit lectures and resources as often as needed, within the timeframe allowed on the platform. This learning includes videos, vibrant interactive e learning sections, reading, resources, time out activities and so much more – all created by Jane !
Please note: the course was developed and launched in September 2023, but since that time has been regularly updated with any new relevant materials added so it remains in date. A brand new course with several fresh topics will be available from the Autumn of 2025. Although it is recommended to undertake a travel health update ideally annually, it is well recognised that this isn’t always possible, particularly if you work as a GPN or pharmacist dealing with many different topics which all have educational needs. This course also involves making you aware of how to ‘keep up to date’ inbetween formal training courses. But if you have already taken this particular course, it is suggested you wait for the new one later this year for your next one and in the meantime you can always take the free of charge courses that have been added to this platform – see here.
Jane has also written a blog on ‘Updating your knowledge in travel health‘, which provides some tips and hints – see here.
Topics addressed within this learning programme:
- Climate change and the impact on travel health
- Arboviral infections (malaria, dengue, Zika and TBE)
- The Challenging traveller (older and last minute travellers)
- Test your vaccine knowledge (including travel vaccines and immunisation issues )
- Travel health news – past and present (including measles and polio)
- Best practice in delivering travel health (including FAQs)
- Case studies (four complex cases)
- How do I?
The course comprises 8 hours of learning but you will have 4 weeks in which to complete it. If you finish before this timescale you continue to have access to the platform until the date of expiry. The opportunity to ask questions and engage with an online forum to answer your questions is available but no online meetings are required for this course – you can study it at your own pace when it suits you. There is also a facility to e mail Jane directly within the platform if you have any queries arising from the training.
Important additional information
- This course is provided via a third party provider LearnUpon in which a unique coupon code will be provided to you via email immediately after purchase, with instructions on how to apply the coupon code and purchase the course from LearnUpon with no fee.
