Course overview
Travel Health Training 2026 is a comprehensive online course designed for healthcare professionals who provide or want to provide travel health advice, vaccination services, and pre-travel consultations. Written by clinical specialists and updated to reflect guidance current as of March 2026, this course gives you the knowledge and confidence to support patients travelling anywhere in the world.
Whether you are a pharmacist, pharmacy technician, nurse, GP, paramedic, or allied health professional, this course equips you with the clinical depth and practical frameworks needed to deliver safe, evidence-based travel health care.

What you will learn
The course covers 22 modules and includes an assessment to consolidate your learning. Topics include:
Disease prevention and vaccination Altitude sickness, Chikungunya, Cholera, Dengue fever, Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A and B (combined), Japanese encephalitis, Malaria, Meningococcal ACWY, MMR, Rabies, Tick-borne encephalitis, Typhoid, Yellow fever.
For each disease you will understand the global distribution and burden, signs and symptoms, risk to travellers, available vaccines including dose, schedule, contraindications and adverse reactions, and the latest UK guidance from NaTHNaC, the Green Book, and UKHSA.
Practical travel health topics Risk assessment frameworks, jet lag and Syncrodin/melatonin, travellers’ diarrhoea (prevention and management including Xifaxanta/rifaximin), period delay with norethisterone, food and water hygiene, bite and sun protection, and first aid kit preparation.
Special populations and situations Advice for immunosuppressed travellers, older travellers, LGBTQ+ travellers, travellers living with HIV, cruise passengers, VFR (visiting friends and relatives) travellers, humanitarian workers, travellers with disabilities, and travellers attending Hajj and Umrah.

This course is suitable for:
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians providing or expanding travel health services, nurses and practice nurses undertaking pre-travel consultations, paramedics and allied health professionals working in travel medicine or occupational health, and any healthcare professional wishing to update and formalise their travel health knowledge
How it is assessed
The course concludes with a quiz covering key clinical scenarios, including mosquito-borne disease transmission, vaccine formats and schedules, malaria prevention (the ABCD approach), tick-borne disease management, and mandatory vaccination requirements for destinations such as Saudi Arabia.
